Lacy Building
In 2017, we completed the full renovation of Lacy’s Building, a 125-year-old historical building. The $880,000 rehab, funded by Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, Downtown Development District, JP Morgan Chase and Welfare Foundation, turned this neighborhood eyesore into two affordable housing units and Jerry Dean’s Café. Our house rehab crew worked with East Side Rising. Lacy’s is a cornerstone on the Eastside of Wilmington and is integral to an area that is being renovated and re-built. This three-story building was left vacant and abandoned for almost 15 years after suffering a fire. Construction plans designed by East Side Rising allowed for residential apartments above and a coffee shop on the first floor to be used to provide job training and employment opportunities for Eastside residents. The Lacy Building provided excellent training opportunities for our crews.
