Kosciuszko Park

In 2015, the City of Wilmington commissioned us renovate a historical structure in Kosciuszko Park, located in the Hedgeville Community and originally established in 1886. The park is beautiful but was plagued with a dangerous reputation for crime and violence. The City responded by taking measures to make the park safer including: nighttime lighting and cameras. They also enlisted Challenge Program to restore the central structure of the park: the bathhouse.

Our crew spent over a year completing a full renovation of this historic structure. The project aligned with our goal of taking blighted, unsafe spaces and transforming them into beautiful places, elevating the neighborhood.

Logistically the project was very challenging. The original building was unique and most of the renovation required custom work, including wooden windows which were handmade by our trainees. These unique features make this structure worth visiting and a project we are proud to claim.
