Awbury Pavilions

The Challenge Program and Awbury Arboretum have partnered on many construction projects over the past 15+ years, to build structures which enhance Awbury’s outdoor space and the programming they offer. For example, The Challenge Program built the Farm Pavilion and a timber frame garage for storage and refinished a porch on the historic house. Years ago, our trainees built a timber frame wedding pavilion at the Awbury Arboretum in Northwest Philadelphia.

In 2025, The Challenge Program completed another pavilion for their Adventure Woods, which is a 4-acre walled natural play area. The Pavilion provides protection and gathering space for parents and families. Two-thirds of their summer camps and youth programs take place in Adventure Woods. Trainee had the opportunity to take a field trip to install it on their grounds.
